The pulpit is an important feature of the Old Church. For centuries, ministers have addressed their congregations from this spot. The Old Church?s pulpit is a functional object, but also a work of art.

Perspective
The main pulpit in the centre of the church dates back to 1548, but no one knows who made it. Whoever it was, the perspective and precision of their carving created one of the finest pulpits in the country.

Spared from destruction
The Iconoclasm of 1566 and 1572 destroyed virtually everything considered Roman Catholic in the church, but the pulpit was spared. As a result, we today can still enjoy its fine carving and the beautiful symbolism embodied in it. As well as the main pulpit from 1546, there is also a smaller one in a corner of the church.
